Three weeks from Sunday I leave with several of my RWA chapter mates for the National Convention in NYC. While I usually start looking forward to the next convention about a week and a half after I get home from the previous one, knowing it’s coming up fast is exciting as well as exhausting.
The excitement comes for many reasons. I always love attending the literacy signing and it’s the once-a-year occasion to spend face to face time with some friends I otherwise only talk to on the internet or phone, and of course there is this year’s setting: NYC! Need I say more!
The exhaustion comes from the prep time: finding the right clothes, packing, prepping my work and myself for pitch appointments, and deciding which workshops and seminars to attend. And then, there’s figuring out how to fit in the social and sightseeing wtih a jam-packed eduacational schedule.
So, while the next three weeks will keep me very busy getting myself ready to go and prepping the office and the family for my absence, I should have plety of stories to share here: not only during prep now, but after the event too.
