The Sunnydale Weddings Reflection
Writing the Sunnydale Wedding Series was so much fun for me. It was like a walk down memory lane, reconnecting with the characters from The Sunnydale Days series and pushing them just a little deeper into their happily-ever-after.
Planning five weddings, however, that was challenging.
Sometimes when writing, I have one of those moments. It's like someone whispers the perfect line to me and it sets the whole tone for the book. For this story, it happened as soon as I sat down.
"It wouldn't dare rain on my wedding day."
I think rain on your special day is a common fear. So much time and effort is put into the dress, the flowers, etc. When your plan is for an outdoor wedding, those fears are escalated. [The hubby and I had talked about an outdoor wedding, but the weather was one fear I couldn't get over.]
I took that one tidbit line and remembered on my favorite Clint Black songs: "Like the Rain." I have always loved the way he metaphorically uses the weather event to symbolize the challenges and trials we go through in life.
I never like the rain until I walked though it with you
Every thundercloud that came was one more I might not get through.
On the darkest day there's always light and now I see it too
But I never like the rain until I walked through it with you.
It’s the song's deeper meaning about weathering life’s storms together is the perfect soundtrack to this book and makes it the perfect choice for their first dance.
It was an inspiring inspiration to the tone of the book. I hope the book moves you as much as the song does, revealing the beauty in love's trials.
Can Ben and Anna discover their love is stronger than any challenge?
Anna first noticed Ben, the barn manager, when she first stepped onto Sunnydale Farms. In All That's Unclaimed, he found a way to claim her heart. Now, just days before their dream outdoor wedding, a series of mishaps--a broken hip, a substitute cake, a missing dress, and the ominous rain--theaten their joy.
Will they embrace the rain, turning each drop into a celebration of their unbreakable bond?
