Time and Thyme Again

Musings from my life

Iwould like to welcome you to the premiere post of my new blog: Time and Thyme Again: Musings from my life. For those of you who aren't familiar with me, and my past in the blogosphere, let me introduce myself.

(Don't worry this is the one an only post that will have this kind of introduction)

My name is Constance Phillips. I have had a few different (and now defunct) blogs over the decades. I was a contributor and the Music Editor at Blogcritics for several years, and have published numerous contemporary and paranormal romance novels over the years.

In my non-writing life, I am a mother of two grown children. I also have three dog-babies. My husband and I love to travel, garden, cook and preserve food. It is these, everyday aspects of my life i intend to muse about on these pages. So, welcome. Pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea, and I hope you enjoy your time here.

Wonka imagery

The other night my husband and I went to see the newest incarnation of the story of the infamous chocolatier: Wonka. I had mixed feelings about another film on the same topic, but those fears were quickly put to rest. The movie was a unique spin on the old trope of dreamers willing t sacrifice everything they have to reach their goals. And when those familiar notes of the song that defines Wonka, Pure Imagination began to play, I knew this was what Time and Thyme Again was about too.

The song was written by British composers Leslie Bricisse and Anthony Newley specifically for the original movie: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. and to be sung by Gene Wilder. In Wonka, when the first notes of the song played and Timotheé Chalamet began singing those familiar lyrics, I was transported to that world where dreamers live. A world where dreams can be come reality, where thoughts bloom and pencil drawings leap off the page and become concrete and steel.

In a world of pure imagination.

Wonka is a beautiful tribute to the original movie, to Wilder, and to dreamers. Similarly, I hope Time and Thyme Again will be a sketch pad filled with a sprinkle of gardening successes, fails, and stories. We'll mix that with cooking and processing my fresh, home-grown goodies. On occasion there will be tales of my fur babies antics. Rarely, we'll dip into my own world of pure imagination.

I chase all my passions in life with the same dedication and tenacity as Wonka did his dreams. It is because of this I felt such a visceral connection to Chalamet's version of Wonka, The heart of a dreamer and the unadulterated passion needed to achieve goals is at the heart of all the characters in the movie.

I hope, friend, this is what you find at Time and Thyme Again.
