I actually didn't know about this book at first. I read a book later in the series "Family Reclaimed." I liked the characters so much and the setting, I wanted to read more about them. I kind of wish I would have started with this book because, while the other books stand alone quite well, reading them in order makes it easier to understand the characters and their motivation. This series will satisfy any romance readers need for sweet story, strong characters, interesting settings, and good writing. I highly recommend this and the rest of the books in the series.
I really thought this was a short but sweet book about second chances. I found the main characters to both be very likeable even though it did not work out the first time around. I really liked the pacing of the plot as well. The only issue I had is I would of liked it to be a bit longer.
A sweet second chance romance.Hailey and Nate’s story touches on the past, present and hopefully the future. Being high school sweethearts and heading off their separate ways to college. Both often wonder about the other. Things weren’t left on a good note. With Hailey in New York perusing her career and Nate living the small town life, neither expects the past to catch up to them when she comes home for the holidays. This was a fun book to read. It had some sweet romance and touches on some real issues. Not everything always goes as you plan. This book is all about that. The characters were great, and seeing how this is a first in the series, I can’t wait to read the second.4.5/5
A lovely romance about second chances. Hailey returns to her hometown and faces several dilemmas. Constance Phillips' portrayal of Hailey as she makes life changing decisions through her interactions with her family and Nate (the boy she suddenly left behind 8 years earlier) and his family, is heart felt and compassionate. Nate also is facing many decisions when Hailey comes back into his life, mainly regarding his daughter Lori whom he is very protective of. These two wonderfully depicted main characters rekindle their past feelings for each other, but is small hometown life enough for Hailey and can Nate open up his heart to someone who crushed it all those years ago? A beautifully written story for the sentimental romantic in all of us.
Overall rating:4This is an easy to read second chance romance. The characters are quite believable and the author writes a smooth sailing storyline. Although I could more or less figure out what was to come, this was still an entertaining short story. A book that definitely can inspire people to believe in second chances, or cement that second chances are just fantasy lol.
